About Us
Through collaboration, weco develop projects that have a deep connection to Country and prioritise sustainability and social impact
– shaping a positive future for our communities.
About weco
weco was born from 25 years of reflection and a shared commitment to projects that deliver positive social and environmental impact with strong local relevance.
weco reflects our way of working — an agile, outcomes-focused practice centred on collaboration. We partner with clients, educators, and experts to create projects that shape the future of communities.
We value people and knowledge-sharing through creative thinking. Drawing on 25+ years’ experience, we help clients renew sites and buildings to build sustainable environments and strong communities. Our school and community clients appreciate our skill in solving complex problems with minimal intervention, reducing cost and environmental impact.
We believe it’s important to first deeply understand why we are doing something, so we can then determine what to do next.
Our Approach
By working together, weco creates better outcomes through a process built on consciousness, connection, collaboration, and communication.
Communicate – establishing effective, ongoing, and respectful dialogue about how and when we will deliver.
Collaborate – working together, sharing knowledge and experience to achieve results in a trusting, inclusive, and respectful environment.
Consciousness – developing a deeper understanding with our clients of what we aim to achieve and why, to establish a shared project vision.
Connect – reaching out to our network to engage the right skills and expertise at the right time.
It is our shared responsibility to consider not only the social and environmental impact of our projects but also of our practice.
Our Commitment
Our Commitment
We support the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and strive to implement them not only in our projects but also in our practice and daily lives.
10% of profits to charitable causes
We commit 10% of profits to support the profession, charitable causes, community groups, events, programs, education, and research.
As part of this commitment, we sponsored the 2024 BBM Graduate of the Year Award at UWA, recognising outstanding academic achievement over two years. Congratulations to Eugene Tiong on this remarkable accomplishment.
Practice social responsibility
We are mindful of our impact on society and the environment, choosing to work with organisations that share our values. For example, weco banks exclusively with the community-owned Bank Australia and supports companies with ethical or profit-sharing commitments.
Practice sustainability
Operating mainly from carbon-neutral, low-emission premises, we lead by example. Through flexible work arrangements, we maximise existing resources and minimise our environmental footprint. We prioritise public transport and commit to recycling and reusing resources wherever possible.
Volunteering in community and sporting groups
By volunteering time and resources in teaching, research, and participation in community associations, clubs, and committees, weco personnel stay informed on industry issues and contribute to positive change.
Engage in professional and industry associations
weco team members actively participate in organisations such as the Association of Learning Environments, Australian Institute of Architects, Ausbale, and Architects Board registration exams.
