Redefining Architecture and Communities
Through collaboration, weco develop projects that have a deep connection to Country, prioritise sustainability and social impact to positively shape the future of our communities
About weco
weco was born out of a deep reflection on our 25 year history and a mutual desire to focus on projects which aspire for positive social and environmental impact with a deep local relevance.
weco stands for how we like to work – as an agile, outcomes focused practice centred by collaboration. We love to collaborate with our clients, educators, other practices and experts to develop projects that positively impact the future of our communities.
We value people and the sharing of knowledge through a process led by our creative thinking. Clients love our help from the beginning, when we draw on over 25 years of experience of renewing sites and buildings to create new, sustainable environments that build community. Our school and local community clients value our ability to often solve complex issues by doing as little as possible, saving cost and minimising environmental impact.
We believe it’s important to first, deeply understand why we are doing something for us then to be able to work out what to do next
Our Approach
By working together, weco create better outcomes using a process involving consciousness, connection, collaboration and communication.
Collaborate – working together, sharing knowledge and experience to create outcomes in a trusting, inclusive and respectful environment. Communicate – Establish a process for effective, continual and respectful dialogue on how we are going to do it and when.
Consciousness – we like to form a deeper understanding and awareness of what we are aiming to achieve and why with our clients to establish a shared project vision.
Connect – reach out to our network to see who can bring the skills and expertise needed and when.
Communicate – Establish a process for effective, continual and respectful dialogue on how we are going to do it and when.
weco believe it is our shared responsibility to not only consider the social and environmental impact of our projects but also in our practice
Our Commitment
We subscribe to the 17 UN sustainability development goals and aim to implement them not only in our projects but also in our practice and daily lives.

we commit 10% of profits towards supporting the profession, charitable causes, community groups, events and programs as well as education and research.
As part of our commitment, we sponsored the 2024 BBM Graduate of the Year Award for UWA. The Award honours outstanding academic achievement across 2 years. Congratulations Eugene Tiong on a remarkable achievement.
Practice social responsibility
We aim to be conscious of our impact within the society and the world and try to utilise services and engage with other companies which have similar values. As an example weco is banking exclusively with and is a member of the community owned Bank Australia. We also aim to support and purchase products from companies who have similar ethical or profit sharing commitments.
Practice sustainability
We are working predominantly from carbon neutral, low emission premises, as our commitment to leading by example.
Through a focus on flexible work arrangements we aim to use existing resources as much as possible and limit our organisations environmental footprint. As a standard practice we prioritise the use of public transport where possible and commit to recycling and reusing resources.
Volunteering, including community and sporting groups
By volunteering time and resources for teaching, research and participating in numerous Community Associations, clubs and committee’s, weco personnel stay on top of current issues affecting the industry and have the collective potential to effect positive impact and change.
